What is integrative counselling?

Integrative counselling means I don't work from just one fixed model, instead, I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches and tailor them to you as an individual. No two people are the same, so no two sets of sessions look exactly alike. What stays consistent is a warm, non-judgemental space where you're free to explore whatever is on your mind, at your own pace.

Do I need to know exactly what I want to talk about?

Not at all. Some people come with a clear issue in mind; others just have a sense that something isn't quite right, or want space to think out loud. Both are absolutely fine. Part of my role is to help you explore what's really going on, even if it isn't obvious at first.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is really about getting to know each other. We'll talk through what's brought you to counselling, what you're hoping to get from it, and I'll explain a little about how I work so you can ask any questions you have. There's no pressure to have everything figured out, it's simply a chance to see if we feel like a good fit.

How long are sessions, and how often will I need to come?

Sessions typically last 50 minutes on a weekly basis, though this can be adjusted to suit you. There's no set number of sessions, some people find a few sessions helpful, others prefer longer-term, ongoing support. We'll keep this under review together.

Question 5

How much does counselling cost?

Sessions are £50per session. I'm mindful that cost can be a barrier for some people, so please do get in touch to talk about options, I want counselling to feel accessible, not exclusive.

Do you offer online or in-person sessions?

I offer both online and in-person so you can choose whatever feels most comfortable and works best for you.

Question 7

Is what I say confidential?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Confidentiality is central to counselling and to the trust we build together. The only exceptions are the rare situations where I believe there's a risk of serious harm to you or someone else, or where I'm required to disclose something by law, and if this ever became relevant, I would always aim to discuss it with you first wherever possible.

How do I know if counselling is right for me?

If you're asking the question, that's often a good sign it's worth exploring. Many people find an initial conversation helps,  there's no obligation, and it gives you a feel for whether this is the right space for you, you can contact me or  book online here

What if I need to cancel or rearrange a session?

Life happens, and I understand plans sometimes need to change. I ask for 48 hours notice where possible, so I can offer the space to someone else. Please see my cancellation policy for full details, or just get in touch if something comes up.
